On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at approximately 12:33 p.m., officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of State Highway 70 and Woodview Drive. Multiple injuries were reported at the scene. Upon arrival, officers observed a 2021 Hyundai Elantra with extensive damage to the driver’s side and a 2016 Mack GU7 tri-axle roll-off dumpster truck with significant front-end damage.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Hyundai was traveling westbound on State Highway 70 when it veered onto the shoulder and abruptly attempted a U-turn across the westbound lane to travel eastbound. The Mack truck, which was traveling directly behind the Hyundai, attempted to avoid a collision by steering left; however, a collision occurred within the roadway. The impact pushed the Hyundai toward the curbed median at Woodview Drive, where it came to rest.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Shakiya Duncan, 33, of Atlantic City, and her two passengers, Dajuan Daniels, 19, of Atlantic City, and Jessica Almanzar, 35, of Manchester, were extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. Duncan sustained internal injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and evaluation. Her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Daniels was also transported to JSUMC with non-life-threatening injuries. Almanzar was transported to Community Medical Center as a precaution and the driver of the Mack truck, Peter Lewis, 69, of Jackson, reported no injuries.

During the course of the investigation, suspected controlled dangerous substances were discovered inside the Hyundai. At this stage, improper turning and suspected impaired driving are believed to be contributing factors. Charges for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and additional criminal offenses are currently pending. Agencies assisting at the scene included the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Joint Base MDL Fire Department, Manchester Fire Department, Manchester Emergency Medical Services, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, and Priced Rite Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Jesse Hoydis and Patrolman Connor Yatauro of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
