The Patrol Bureau is the largest and most visible organizational unit within the Division and provides the bulk of policing services to the public. The Patrol Bureau provides a staff of highly trained and qualified officers that work 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
The primary mission of the Patrol Bureau is emergency response, crime prevention, preliminary investigations, proactive patrol and traffic enforcement.
The Patrol Bureau is comprised of two platoons. Each platoon is commanded by a Patrol Lieutenant. Each platoon consists of three squads which are supervised by Patrol Sergeants. Each Platoon covers three shifts, days, evenings and midnights. The shifts are strategically planned to provide an overlap of police services and to ensure continuous coverage throughout the Township. Additionally, the Township is geographically split into an East and West end, both of which are broken down by a patrol area, or post.
