The Manchester Police Department will once again host multiple “Operation Take Back New Jersey” local collection sites as part of the Operation Take Back NJ medicine disposal day. This event will take place at four locations within Manchester and Whiting:
1) Ocean County Library, Manchester Branch, 21 Colonial Dr. Manchester, NJ
2) The Ocean County Library, Whiting Branch, 400 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ
3) Manchester Plaza, 1001 Route 70, Manchester, NJ
4) Whiting Shopping Center, 108 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ
The hours of collection will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
This initiative, which is open to all residents, was organized to encourage local community residents to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted, and expired medicine. Chief Brian Klimakowski said, “It’s so nice to see the Manchester communities support and participation in these types of events.” “Properly disposing of prescription medication insures that it does not get into the wrong hands and that it will be disposed of in an environmentally safe way.” “We have had tremendous cooperation from residents in the past and we are hoping for the same this year.”
The statewide effort, with the majority of New Jersey police departments participating, is being spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) New Jersey Division, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the NY/NJ HIDTA, and the New Jersey National Guard.
