Crash 2013-507

On Sunday July 14, 2013 at approximately 7:47pm, a gray 2009 Nissan Altima 4 door was traveling south on County Route 539 near milepost 21 when it crossed into the north bound lane and collided with a gray 2001 Bmw Z3 convertible.  The Nissan Altima continued south in the north bound lane and then collided head on with a silver 2009 Volkswagon Jetta which was traveling north on County Route 539.  The driver of the Nissan Altima, 28 year old Shannon B. Fenton of Brant Beach, who was unrestrained at the time of the collision, has succumbed to his injuries and pronounced dead at Jersey Shore University Medical Hospital early this morning.  The driver of the Volkswagon Jetta, 19 year old Alexandra E. Peroni of Norwalk, Connecticut, who was properly restrained, suffered fractures in both elbows and ankles and was transported from Southern Ocean County Hospital to a local hospital in Connecticut in stable condition.  The front seat passenger of the Volkswagon, 19 year old Danielle M. Godley of Floral Park, New York, who was also properly restrained, sustained injuries to her chest, arms, and legs, and was listed in stable condition at Community Medical Center.  The rear seat passenger of the Volkswagon, 19 year old Sefakor A. Mensah of Monroe, who was properly restrained at the time of the collision, has succumbed to her injuries and pronounced dead at Community Medical Center.  The driver of the Bmw Z3, 51 year old Claire T. Kinsella from New York, was properly restrained at the time of the collision and sustained head and chest injuries.  She is currently listed in stable condition at Community Medical Center.  Assisting at the scene was the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Bamber Lake and Navy Lakehurst Fire Department, Paramedics from MONOC, Quality Medical Transport, the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, the Ocean County Criminalistic Investigation Unit, the NJ DOT Diversionary Team, and the Ocean County Road Department.  The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Paul Bachovchin and Patrolman Ian Bole from the Manchester Township Traffic Safety Bureau.
