On August 5, 2015, members of the Manchester Township Police received a call of a disturbance on Housen Street in the Summit Park Section of the Township. When officers responded they learned that the house in question had multiple canines that were acting aggressive towards each other, which appeared to have prompted the call.
While at the residence, Officer Stephen Hankins, Officer Patrick Morgan, and Sgt. Richard Mazza located 22 year old Bowen Stephenson hiding inside one of the bedrooms. While speaking with Stephenson, it was learned that he had provided officers with false information in an effort to avoid being apprehended on a no bail warrant out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. During the investigation, officers observed several doses of heroin and a syringe that belonged to Stephenson. A further search led to the seizure of 117 bags of heroin, multiple pieces of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a hypodermic syringe.
As a result, Stephenson was arrested and charged with Possession of and Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, and Hindering His Own Apprehension. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
