Swearing inOn Monday, April 15, 2013, Patrick Mabie Jr. was sworn in by Manchester Mayor Michael Fressola, making him the newest officer on the Manchester Township Police force. Patrick Mabie, a 2004 graduate of Toms River High School North and a 2012 graduate of Ocean County College, is scheduled to start his training later this week at the Ocean County Police Academy in Lakewood. Mabie, who has a background of public service, was a member of both the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Pleasant Plains Volunteer First Aid Squad. Mabie also worked for both Quality Medical Transport and the Toms River Office of Emergency Services as an EMT. Mabie also served in the military, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. in 2007. While in the Marine Corps., Mabie served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan as an Infantryman. During his time in the service, Mabie received numerous citations and ribbons, including the Marine Corps. Achievement Medal for performance during a combat mission. He was honorably discharged in 2011.

The hiring ceremony took place in the civic center at the Manchester Municipal complex and was attended by several members of Mabie’s family as well as Manchester Police Chief Brian Klimakowski, Council Members Craig Wallis and James Vaccaro Sr., CFO Diane Lapp, Township Clerk, Sabina Skibo and numerous other township employees and police personnel.

Mabie begins his law enforcement training this Thursday as a police recruit in the Ocean County Police Academy. This physically and mentally challenging training will last approximately five months and will culminate with graduation in September. After graduation, he will be assigned to a rigorous twelve week Field Training Program where he will be taught and mentored by a seasoned officer prior to venturing out on his own.
