A two-month long investigation into suspicious activity at a Whiting massage parlor led to the arrest of a 43-year-old Flushing, NY, woman. Shulan Song was arrested Tuesday on charges of solicitation of prostitution after members of the Manchester Township Police Department executed a court authorized search warrant at the Whiting Spa located on Lake Road in the Whiting section of the Township.
After receiving complaints from citizens about suspicious activity at the establishment, investigators took action and began to investigate. Over the past month, members of the Department’s Investigations Bureau along with detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Group conducted operations which confirmed that prostitution was taking place at the establishment. As a result, detectives were able to obtain sufficient evidence to procure a Court authorized search warrant for the establishment.
During the execution of the search warrant, one spa employee, Shulan Song was arrested without incident. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed, charged with solicitation of prostitution, and released on a summons.
Assisting with the investigation were members of the Department’s Patrol Bureau and Narcotics Enforcement Team as well as members of the Glen Rock Police Department. Also assisting were investigators from the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Investigations Unit. The investigation is ongoing and there is a potential for additional charges and arrests. Those having any pertinent information regarding this investigation are asked to contact Detective Adam Emmons at 732-657-2009, ext. 4203.
