On Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, a two car crash occurred on County Route 530 in the Whiting section of Manchester Township.
A 2007 white Nissan Altima, operated by Whiting resident Allen Gura, 70, collided with a 2007 Blue Chrysler Sebring at the intersection of County Route 530 and Pine Ridge Boulevard. Both occupants of the Chrysler Sebring, Lori and Leonard Seaton, are also residents of Whiting.
Mr. Gura was extricated from his vehicle and airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Mr. Gura was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Mr. and Mrs. Seaton were transported to Community Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and both were properly restrained at the time of the collision.
The roadway remained opened following the crash with alternate lane shifting.
Assisting at the scene were the Whiting Volunteer Fire Company, Whiting Fire Police, Quality Medical Transport, MON-OC paramedics and the MON-OC 1 medivac. This crash is currently under investigation by Patrolman Tom O’Hare of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Section.
