Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Manchester Township Police Chief Brian Klimakowski on Dec. 2, 2014, announced the arrest of Modesto Torres, 65, of Manchester.  Torres is charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Distribution of Child Pornography.

The arrest stems from an early morning operation by the Ocean County High Tech Crime Unit and the Manchester Township Police Department. The partnering agencies executed a search warrant at Torres’ Manchester Eighth Avenue residence.  The search warrant was a result of a proactive online investigation involving the distribution of child pornography over the internet.  Their subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Modesto Torres for allegedly downloading and viewing images of children engaged in sex acts. Charges were approved Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman.  Bail was set at $5,000 with no 10 percent option by the Honorable Judge James Blainey. Torres will be lodged in Ocean County Jail in default of bail.

The media and the public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
