Chief Antonio Ellis is proud to announce that the Manchester Township Police Department will join with surrounding law enforcement agencies to participate in Goal: Zero, a high-visibility County-wide enforcement detail confronting the staggering rise in traffic deaths New Jersey has seen in recent years.

The next high visibility enforcement detail is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, with State Highway 70 the focus of this month’s detail. This will coincide with Goal: Zero enforcement by officers in Monmouth County on State Highway 35.  Between both Counties, approximately 55 miles of roadway will be simultaneously enforced.

Traffic Safety culture and driving behaviors must change to keep people alive on New Jersey roadways. As of March 18, 2025, 101 people have lost their lives on New Jersey roadways in 2025. Thirteen of these deaths occurred in Ocean County.  Law Enforcement agencies in Ocean County are dedicated to lowering these numbers and keeping our roadways safe by holding Code: Zero details on the last Thursday of every month from March through September.

**WHAT THE GOAL: ZERO LOGO MEANS**

The color of the logo represents high visibility and is the color for pedestrian and school safety. The black bar is a mourning band for all lives lost in traffic crashes.

Patrolman Matt Menosky of the Holmdel Police Department has been a key driving force behind Goal: Zero. This effort brought together officers from 36 municipalities during 2024’s enforcement details to monitor driving behaviors and issue summonses for violations such as speeding, careless driving, and distracted driving. Chief Ellis is pleased to bring the initiative to Manchester Township in partnership with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and our fellow officers at Lakehurst, Toms River, Lakewood, and Brick Police Departments.
