A 19 year old Lakehurst man faces 11 counts of possession of stolen property in connection with a burglary spree spanning several Manchester senior villages last winter.

Kevin M. Monahan of Union Avenue was charged by Det. Christopher Hemhauser on April 18 following a lengthy investigation. Police in Manchester were assisted by officers in Beachwood, Toms River and Howell.

Between November 16 and December 21 of 2013, a combined 20 burglaries and attempted burglaries occurred in Crestwood Village V and VI, Country Walk and Whiting Station. All of the burglaries to the residents occurred with the point of entry being the rear or front door forced in while the homeowners were not at home. The homes were ransacked and various pieces of jewelry and cash were taken, some of which was identified at local jewelry stores. Unfortunately the items were already melted down or resold.

Detectives from the Manchester Township Police anticipate charges are forthcoming to a second individual in connection with the burglaries. Monahan was lodged on $50,000 bail.

Assisting with the investigation were the Ocean County Sheriff Department’s Criminalistics Investigations Unit and K-9 Unit.
