On August 25, 2013 at approximately 0040hour a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Paul L. Stevens 3rd, 21, from Forked River, was traveling eastbound on State Highway 70 approaching County Road 539. Stevens failed to stop and collided with a 2005 Toyota RAV 4,  operated by Stacy R. Israel, 30, of Newtown, PA, stopped for the red traffic signal. Israel’s vehicle then struck the 2013 Chevrolet Sonoma, operated by Daniel J. Galvin, 33 of Pt. Pleasant, in front of her, also stopped for the red traffic signal.  Galvin’s vehicle then struck the 1999 Ford F150, operated by Jody M. Bailey, 55 of Pine Beach, in front of him, also stopped for the red traffic signal.  Two passengers in the Toyota RAV, a 22 year old female experiencing neck pain and a 33 year old female with a scalp laceration were transported to Community Medical Center.  The driver of the Chevrolet Sonoma, Daniel L. Galvan, was transported to Community Medical Center with a facial laceration. Several other passengers of the vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The crash is being investigated by Ptl. S. Wendruff of the Manchester Twp. Police Patrol Bureau and Ptl. R. Westfall of the Toms River Police Dept. Traffic Safety Section.  Quality Medical Transport assisted at the scene with medical treatment and transport.
