On Monday evening, August 31, 2015, at approximately 8:10 p.m., members of the Manchester Township Police responded to the area of Route 70 and the NJ Self Storage for the report of an overturned motor vehicle.

overturnedUpon arrival, officers observed a mid-sized black vehicle on its drivers side and its operator, later identified as 46 year old, Michael Cruz, of Brick, lying on the eastbound berm. The initial investigation revealed that Cruz was operating his black, 2000, Nissan Maxima eastbound on Route 70 when he left the roadway and struck a utility pole, causing his vehicle to over-turn.  The vehicle came to final rest, on its driver side, facing westbound in the eastbound shoulder portion of the roadway.

Officers learned that Cruz was helped from the vehicle by a passer-by prior to police arrival. Paramedics from MONOC as well as members of Manchester Volunteer First Aid, and Quality Medical Transport arrived and provided aid to Cruz, who complained of pain to his left leg, left arm and neck. Quality Medical Transport transported him to Community Medical Center for further evaluation. The crash is being investigated by Ptl. Patrick Cervenak of the Patrol Bureau.
