On Monday, May 4, 2015, at approximately 8:29 p.m., the Manchester Township Police were dispatched to the Country Farms convenience store located at 550 County Route 530 in the Whiting Section of Manchester Township for a commercial burglar alarm.
When patrol units arrived on scene, they observed a shattered glass front door and a shattered store front glass window. As Patrolman Kyle Rickvalsky was checking the front of the store, Patrolman Michael Steffen observed a white male subject carrying a blue duffel bag attempting to flee the scene on a bicycle. Patrolman Steffen pursued the white male through the Crestwood Shopping Center parking lot and across Route 530, where he was apprehended in the parking lot of the CVS.
During the investigation, the male subject, identified as 18-year-old Gary M. Feiner III of Pilgrim Court in Whiting, was observed on multiple store’s video surveillance systems attempting to throw a large concrete landscape block through the glass front door of the establishment. Initial attempts on the front door were unsuccessful, however, Feiner ultimately was able to throw a separate landscape rock through the store’s front glass window, causing a large hole. Feiner then was seen reaching through the hole in the window and grabbing approximately $28.00 worth of Swisher Cigars.
After conducting the investigation, Feiner was criminally charged with one count each of burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and obstruction of justice. Feiner was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $7,500.00 bail. Assisting in the investigation was Detective Adam Guker of the Manchester Township Police Investigations Bureau and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit.
