On Sunday, April 26, 2015 at approximately 3:20 p.m., a black, 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster was traveling westbound on State Highway 70 when it collided with a blue, 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe which was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn onto Roosevelt City Road in the Whiting section of the township.
The impact caused the motorcyclist, 50 year old Prantosh Drejaj of Browns Mills, and the passenger, 22 year old Linda Drejaj also of Browns Mills, to be ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle slid approximately 49 feet on its side before coming to rest on the dirt portion of the westbound shoulder of Route 70.
Prantosh Drejaj sustained significant trauma to his face and legs and was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune by Southstar Medevac Helicopter. Linda Drejaj sustained significant trauma to her knee and chest and was also airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Hospital by Penn Star Medevac Helicopter.
The driver of the Hyundai, 63 year old Kathleen Driver, was properly restrained at the time of the collision and was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for the complaint of head pain.
Assisting at the scene was Quality Medical Transport, MONOC Paramedics, as well as Penn Star and Southstar Medevacs. The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Ian Bole from the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Section.
