On August 22, 2013 at 2:07 pm Manchester Twp. Police responded to a accident for a Pedal Cyclist struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lacy Road and Cherry Street.  The accident involved a motor vehicle and a pedal cyclist.  The motor vehicle involved was a 2008 Toyota Corolla being operated by an 88 year old Manchester resident, Marguerit R. Wilson. The bicycle was being ridden by a 55 year old Browns Mills resident, Michael Whaley.   Mrs. Wilson was traveling east on Lacey Road while Mr. Whaley was traveling west on Lacey Road. The collision occurred in the intersection of the roadway and ejected Mr. Whaley from his bicycle.   Mr. Whaley sustained a head injury along with multiple other contusions.  He was transported to Community Medical Center by Quality Medical Transport.  Mrs. Wilson was not injured in the crash.  Traffic at the intersection was diverted for approximately one hour as the accident was being investigated by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, CIU and the Manchester Twp. Police Traffic Safety Unit’s Patrolmen Thomas O’Hare and Douglas Higgins.  Also assisting at the scene was the Whiting Vol. Fire Co. and Mon-Oc Paramedics.
