On August 14, 2013, Manchester Township Police were responded to the office building at the Pine Ridge Mobile home park off Route 530 in the Whiting section of the township for a bomb scare. Officers on scene were advised that an object resembling a military bomb was found inside a Mobile home foreclosure on Woodchuck Pkwy in Pine Ridge Community by the cleaning crew today. The cleaning personnel brought the 18 to 20” long artillery round to the Pine Ridge main office located at 2 Fox St. Manchester Police along with Whiting Fire Company, evacuated the area for precautionary reasons until Air Force EOD SSGT Burnash from Fort Dix Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (E.O.D.) responded and determined the object to be a 25 pound practice bomb utilized by the military as a training aid for pilots. Approximately 20 mobile home residence were affected by this evacuation for approximately one hour today. Staff Sgt. Burnash removed the practice bomb and took it for proper disposal.
