Surveillance operations by the Manchester Township Police Narcotics Enforcement Team led to the arrest of a Toms River man for distribution of heroin. Anthony Huggins, 30, of Serrata Way in Toms River was found to be in possession of quantities of heroin and crack-cocaine while parked in the lot of the Comfort Inn located at 2016 Route 37.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2016, at approximately 10:34 p.m., members of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Team approached Serrata, who was seated in his 2014 Kia Forte. Upon further investigation, officers determined that Huggins had heroin and crack cocaine concealed inside of the hat he was wearing. In addition, police later located additional quantities of heroin which Huggins had hidden on his person. The investigation revealed that Huggins had arrived at the Comfort Inn with the intention of selling the heroin he had in his possession.
Huggins was taken into custody without incident and later transported to Manchester Police Headquarters. He was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and loitering for the purpose to sell CDS. Bail was set at $20,000.00 and Huggins was subsequently transported to Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
Also assisting with the investigation were the Manchester Police Department Patrol Division and K-9 Unit.
