On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at approximately 2:37 p.m., members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Route 37 and Buckingham Drive to investigate a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers observed a silver, 2015, Nissan Sentra on its roof in the eastern portion of the roadway and a tan, 2011, Buick disabled on the eastbound shoulder. The investigation revealed that the Nissan was traveling east on Route 37 through a red traffic signal when it collided with the Buick that was traveling North on Buckingham Drive. The Nissan was sent into a spin and overturned as a result of the collision.  The driver of the Nissan, 74-year-old, Susan Vogel of Manchester, was extricated out of her vehicle by members of the Manchester and Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Companies.  Vogel sustained injuries to both of her arms as well as her right leg and was transported by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.  The driver of the Buick, 83-year-old, Sondra Oliver of Boynton Beach, FL was uninjured in the collision and refused medical attention.  Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and the Nissan had multiple airbag deployments.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Manchester and Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Departments, EMTs from Quality Medical Transport, and paramedics from MONOC. The crash is being investigated by Corporal Douglas Higgins of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
