Lt. Vincent Manco of Manchester Township Police helped Ridgeway Elementary School students celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday during Read Across America Day on February 28th.
Manco visited Mrs. Virginia Schenck’s fifth grade class, where he read a book to students. The lieutenant, a first-time participant of the National Education Association’s program, said he was thankful for the school district’s invitation.
“I had a great time reading to the students and if given the opportunity, I would love to do it again next year,” said Manco.
Now in its 17th year, Read Across America aims to make reading into a fun activity for children. Other guest readers throughout Manchester schools included township and education officials, parents, and guests from the community.
Manchester Township Police values community service and was pleased to work with Manchester Schools to encourage children to further their education.
