On Saturday, April 27, 2013 at approximately 6:53 pm 24 year old Joel Onate, of Toms River, New Jersey was injured when he lost control of his 2012 Triumph Motorcycle in an emergency braking situation. Mr. Onate was riding with another motorcycle traveling west on Broadway Boulevard approaching the intersection of Oakdale Street in the Pine Lake Park section of the Township. The operator of an SUV stopped on Oakdale Street and then partially entered the intersection, causing him to perform an evasive braking maneuver. Although the two vehicles never contacted, Mr. Onate dropped his motorcycle on the roadway and slid to a stop after the evasive maneuver. He suffered “road rash” and cuts to his knees, and arms, and was complaining of wrist and back pain. He was treated at the scene by Members of the Manchester Volunteer First Aid Squad. Mr. Onate was wearing a DOT approved helmet with a face shield, protective gloves, and padded leather riding jacket at the time of the crash.  This crash is under investigation by Patrolman Antonio Ellis of the Manchester Traffic Safety Bureau.
