At 14:53 hours on February 6, 2013, a three vehicle crash occurred on NJ Route 70, approximately 635 feet east of Beckerville Road (Manchester Blvd). A 2011 Cadillac SRX, being operated by Charles D. Johnson (age 77) of Toms River, NJ was traveling west bound on NJ Route 70, when it impacted head on with a 2001 Dodge STR, being operated east bound on NJ Route 70 by Jessica MacLean (age 32) of Lakehurst, NJ. The impact forced MacLeans vehicle to rotate and was then struck by a 2001 Toyota Pick-Up, which was also being operated east bound on NJ Route 70, by James M. McGinty (age 54) of Whiting, NJ.

Ms MacLean, was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune, NJ via Media-Vac, for leg and internal injuries. Mr. Johnson was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital, by ambulance, for face and internal pain. Mr. McGinty was not injured in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were, Whiting Vol. Fire Dept, Quality First Aid, MONOC Paramedics and Media-Vac, NJ State Police, NJ DOT, Ocean County CIU and Ocean County Prosecutors Office. The crash is under investigation by Ptl. Douglas Higgins and Ptl. Antonio Ellis, Manchester Traffic Safety Section and Ptl. Scott Thompson of the Patrol Division.
