Residents living in the Pine Lake Park section of Manchester Township should ensure that their vehicles are locked, as instances of “car shopping” were recently reported to police.

“Car shopping” occurs when burglars walk down a street, checking vehicle door handles to find easy targets that are unlocked so that money and or goods may be taken from inside. Individuals were reported to be engaging in this activity this week on Fourth Avenue and Hannibal Street, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

To prevent themselves from becoming a victim, residents should always keep all vehicle doors/windows locked. While many motor vehicle burglaries go unreported to the police for various reasons, we urge all residents to contact the police if they have been the victim of any crime.

Residents with video surveillance systems in the affected area are encouraged to contact the Manchester Township Police Department at their earliest convenience. Residents are also reminded to report any and all suspicious activity to the Manchester Township Police Department at 732-657-6111 or by using the “Tip-Line” link at the Manchester Township Police Website (www.manchesterpolicenj.com). Tip-Line information may be left anonymously.
